    The 2023 World Conference was a huge success with the help of our conference sponsors, the University of Waterloo, and the WACE community! Over 300 delegates from 24 countries joined together at the University of Waterloo, Canada in June with 100 workshops and paper presentations to choose from. 

    During the conference Gala and Awards Reception, WACE was delighted to present three major awards to recognize contributions in cooperative and work-integrated education (CWIE) around the world. The Best Paper at the conference award was also announced along with the recipients of the 2023 WACE Research Grant. Congratulations to all the awardees and recipients.     WACE is grateful to the University of Waterloo team for their warm welcome and efforts in hosting the global WIL community after 4 long years to share practice, research, and network with colleagues from across the world.

    WACE is delighted to announce we have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the creation of a WACE Regional Office located in Thailand.

    WACE has partnered with Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), Thailand to support a key principle of our vision and mission in developing partnerships that share our goals and seek to complement, support, and uplift the related work so as to support CWIE (Cooperative and Work Integrated Education) on a global scale.As the host of such an Office, SUT agrees to promote WACE membership and CWIE throughout Thailand and Asia, particularly the member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), i.e. Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam.

    New Executive Committee Members

    Global Challenge wins in the 2022 PIEoneer Real Life Learning Award



     

    WACE is excited to announce that Global Challenge is the winner of the 2022 PIEoneer Real Life Learning Award. The PIEoneer awards recognise innovation and achievement across the global education industry. WACE congratulates all other finalists and the winners of these prestigious awards.


    WACE Global Challenge enables students from across the globe to connect in multidisciplinary, transnational teams working on real projects with clients linked to the UNSDG's. Partnering with Practera for a small pilot in 2020 to now involving 500 + 34 Institutions from 18 countries has been an incredible journey.


    Special thanks to our WACE members Karima Ramji, Shabnam Ivkovic , Dave Fenton, Norah McRae , Patrice Twomey and our partners at Practera Beau Leese , Zoe DeReus , Kabita Rai and Suzy Watson.

    Thanks also to the many WACE members and University partners who have supported and participated in this innovative programme.

    Recently the WACE Global Challenge and the work of WACE member, Botho University were highlighted in an International Finance Corporation Webinar

    How to Prepare Your Students for the Next Globalization Era

    We are entering the next era of globalization. Following the pandemic, remote work has become commonplace, while environmental and social issues are earning greater attention. How is academia preparing students for this new global market? How are they engaging employers to provide students with the skills needed to remain competitive? What tools and programs exist to help educators in this process? In this webinar, we will explore these topics and discuss practical solutions for taking action within your institution.

    SPEAKERS:

    Judie Kay is the Vice Chair Programs and Partnerships and an Executive Committee member for the World Association for Work-Integrated Education (WACE); and a consultant on graduate employability at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). Previously Judie was the Director, Employability & Career Education at RMIT. You can connect with her on LinkedIn.

    Aravinda Ram is Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Botho University- a pan African on-campus and distance-learning institution based in Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, and Eswatini.     Isabel Dingler is Innovation & Sustainability Consultant at Sharkbite Innovation, a consulting firm based in Germany, where she assists businesses to take action toward achieving the UN SDGs to attain a sustainable future. You can connect with her on LinkedIn.
